Tobacco Cessation & Prevention Grant Program (TCPP) - CLOSED
The State of New Mexico Indian Affairs Department (IAD) is focused on building Tribal capacity to implement culturally appropriate tobacco cessation and prevention initiatives that recognize the unique ceremonial uses of tobacco while reducing the use of commercial tobacco use and its harmful effects.
IAD received an appropriation from the New Mexico Legislature for Tobacco Cessation and Prevention Programs. This is funded out of the Tobacco Settlement Fund and is used to fund direct tobacco cessation and prevention campaigns in Native American communities.
This funding opportunity is available for Nations Pueblos & Tribes (NPT’s) and tribal-serving organizations within the State of New Mexico.
Each year, a Notice of Funding Announcement (NOFA) will be placed on our website notifying all interested parties of new monies available.
Each applying entity is limited to applying for one Tobacco Cessation and Prevention program.
Proposals should articulate a project plan and establish a budget that appropriately aligns with that plan.
Please note that TCPP is only open to NPTs at this time and ends 10/30/2025.

IAD launched a campaign as part of the Tobacco Cessation & Prevention Project (TCPP).
Tobacco is a sacred medicine in our communities, meant for prayer, ceremonies and respect – not addiction.
In our Native communities, tobacco holds deep meaning. It’s not meant to harm – it’s meant to heal. But today, too many Native youth are targeted by commercial tobacco and vaping products.
FACT: Native youth have some of the highest commercial tobacco rates in the country.
This campaign is meant to provide positive reinforcement and imagery for youth and Native communities to identify healthy and unhealthy uses of commercial tobacco.

Request for Proposals (RFPs)
Suicide Prevention New Mexico Tribal Citizens & Communities
The purpose of this Request for Proposals (RFP) is to strengthen suicide prevention and mental health capacity for Native American citizens in New Mexico through engagement, training and data-driven strategies. The selected vendor will work collaboratively with the New Mexico Indian Affairs Department (IAD) and key partners to coordinate an initiative that integrates suicide prevention education, community assessment and evidence-based mental health training. Culturally Relevant Commercial Tobacco Cessation & Prevention Services for Native American Communities in New Mexico
The purpose of this Request for Proposal (RFP) is to solicit sealed proposals for a contract, awarded through competitive negotiation, to provide culturally relevant commercial tobacco cessation and prevention services for Native American communities in New Mexico. With over 263,315 Native Americans—12.4% of the state’s population—living across 7.7 million acres, this group is the priority population of the RFP. This RFP does not seek to impinge upon the sacred use of traditional or ceremonial tobacco in Native American communities. Deadline: 12/15/2025
Financial Literacy for New Mexico Tribal Citizens & Communities - CLOSED
The purpose of this Request for Proposal (RFP) is to leverage existing curriculum ensuring it is adaptable for both
youth and adults, can be accessed electronically and in-person, and, at a minimum, includes culturally appropriate financial and investor education, addresses personal
finance topics such as responsible use of a credit card, saving & savings goals avoiding predatory lenders, understanding banking, car buying tips, safeguarding against identity
theft and basic investing skills. Open to non profits, private sectors, institutions, etc. Deadline: 11/03/2025
