Accessibility Statement

The New Mexico Indian Affairs Department (IAD) is committed to providing equal access to all IAD services, events and digital resources. Accessibility is central to IAD's mission of serving Nations, Pueblos, and Tribes, as well as all New Mexicans. IAD believes every individual should be able to fully participate in the programs and opportunities IAD provides.

Digital Access

IAD continues to improve the IAD website and online materials to meet recognized accessibility standards such as the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG). Efforts include:

  • Providing text alternatives for images and graphics.
  • Ensuring documents and forms are available in accessible formats.
  • Maintaining consistent navigation and readable text.
  • Offering captioning or transcripts for video and audio content.

Events and Public Participation

IAD works to ensure meetings, consultations and events are inclusive. Individuals with disabilities may request accommodation such as:

  • Sign language interpreters.
  • Real-time captioning or assistive listening devices.
  • Materials in large print, Braille, or accessible electronic formats.
  • Physical access modifications at event locations.

Whenever possible, requests should be made at least five business days in advance. IAD will do its best to meet requests made on shorter notice.

Continuous Commitment

Accessibility is an ongoing process. IAD reviews its policies, trains staff and collaborates with partners to ensure barriers are addressed quickly and effectively.
