Map of Nations, Pueblos and Tribes in New Mexico
About the Map
This map is hosted by the Indian Affairs Department (IAD), in collaboration with the Office of Broadband Access & Expansion (OBAE), to display federally recognized tribal lands and off-reservation trust lands located within New Mexico according to the U.S. Census Bureau (2024).
Tribal land jurisdiction is a complex topic that extends beyond the geographic representations in this map. This map currently just focuses on those land boundaries within New Mexico.
This map does not currently contain fee simple or restricted fee lands. IAD and OBAE look forward to continued dialog with the Nations, Pueblos, and Tribes across New Mexico to improve this map as a primary reference for better government-to-government coordination over time.
Currently, there is no authoritative state-based custodian of the geographic boundaries of the Nations, Pueblos, and Tribes in New Mexico so this data may not represent some of the most recent acquisitions, transfers, or divestments by Nations, Pueblos, and Tribes.
